Saturday, July 31

Well obviously, I'm back.

I can't stray for long. I miss blogging, it's more fun than I imagined. I spend all day sitting in front of the television with ice on my knee and it really is SO boring. I'm trapped in my home and I can't do much except stream youtube, which I don't mind because I absolutely LOVE youtube. Laughter is the best medicine so here are some of my favorite videos that always crack me up.

His name is Antoine Dodson.
Skip to 1:01 for the good part ;)

Double rainbow. FTW.

Here's the double rainbow song. It will definitely get stuck in your head!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOVVVEEEE KINGSLEY.
He is amazing at what he does. Anything pop culture, Kingsley's got it covered.
Oh and his birds video made him famous.

An update on the knee.
Man the road to recovery is SO LONG AND HARD. I am getting better. I still cannot bend my leg, but I can straighten it. I can also but weight on it and I can walk (with the help of my crutches). I don't hop with my crutches I can walk; it's going to be a few more weeks and a lot of physio until I can walk without the crutches. I am staying optimistic....for the most part.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post. It's full of laughter. I need to find something to do with my time, like seriously.

Day after ACL reconstruction

Well let's just say to everything in life there is good and bad. Take me for example, I don't think I can ever catch a break. My ACL is fixed, but because of my 3 year injury they had to completely remove my meniscus. This will cause me trouble in the long run as my bones will be rubbing against each other. I'm going to be old and in pain. Whoop-di-doo. The worst part of the surgery was after when I woke up. I had no idea how disgusting anesthetics were. The man told me it'll smell bad, but I had no idea how sick it would make me. I've never liked doctors, I've never liked nurses, I've never liked anything medical related. The nurses were so rude, first of all they can't pronounce my name, second of all they think I can't hear them and they talk amongst each other on how floppy I am because I couldn't follow directions. How am I supposed to, my brain was shut off I felt like vomiting. They ere so inconsiderate, I hate how just because you're a nurse you're better than me, or just because you're a Doctor you're better than everybody else. Wait 10 years, that's when I'm out of university and I'll have the last laugh.

So my knee is frozen, every time I walk I become so dizzy. I can sleep in only one position, and I need help with everything. I have to see the surgeon again in 2 weeks to talk about my meniscus and rehabilitation. It's going to take me a while to become healthy again. I feel so depressed, I'm wondering if my plan to do sports will even exist. Meniscus is a shock absorber. Without it I'll have to go through a lot. I'm not going to put any pictures of my knee as it is a bit gory and I myself can't bare to look at it. Just want to warn you all that my plan to blog everyday will not happen as even now I am very dizzy. I'm on 3 medications to reduce inflammation, nausea and the pain.

Even though the pain is excruciating, and I no longer have meniscus in my left knee, I am staying positive. This is not a time in my life to be negative. I have the support of my family and my good friends. I've realized something. A friend who I thought was my friend invited everybody to a going away party on the day of my surgery, I found that quite rude as she had told me before she was going to invite me. People really show their true colours. I am in the works of writing my book. There are so many things that I have kept hidden in the world. I'm 15 and now it's time for me to set my mark on the world. I am not who everybody thinks I am, I have goals, I have passions and I had knee surgery.

Dea is gone temporarily. I plan on making the most out of this healing time. I have to start my phase rehabilitation soon but I am going to also:
1. Learn how to play saxophone for jazz auditions
2. Learn how to play some more songs on piano
3. Start sewing - again
4. Clean my facebook - again
5. read some books
6. Go to the lake in my crutches sit on a chair in the grass and hopefully get another tan??
7. Take my brother to go see avatar in 3D in theatres - AGAIN.

Yea there's only so much I can do, and right now I'm going to go watch sunshine cleaning or whatever the movie is called.

I don't know when my next post will be but this is leave is only temporary. I don't have many followers so that doesn't matter. I love my blog, I love ranting, I love talking in posts, even if nobody reads them, I LOVE THE BLOG ATMOSPHERE. Okay I'm getting a bit sick now, until next time! :D

Monday, July 26

The eve before the big day.

Tomorrow I am getting my surgery. I am both excited and nervous. My life was put on hold 3 years ago as I wasn't able to do anything really. My knee held me back from everything, it'd pop out of place, it would always crack, it would freeze up for days making it hard for me to walk. When I injured my knee, that exact day all the 'popular' kids made up a rumour that I faked it for attention. If that was true, then I deserve an oscar for best actress.

I am hoping that the surgery goes well, as I have many things planned out for the year. I plan on trying out for badminton team. I haven't played in years. I plan on joining the swim club. I may not look it but I am a competitive swimmer and I am quite good (not bragging or anything). Well I have 2 hours to eat and I need to go prepare for my surgery.

Yes I am thinking about food so late at night. It's the summer, the weather is hot and we all drink water. I will die without water ARRGHGHGHGH I am such a drama queen.

Okay bye guys!

Sunday, July 25

Let's believe what we want to hear

The sun's harsh rays have burned my back. The redness will fade and it will look like a good tan. Though tanning of any sort is not good for your skin, it feels great to be under the sun. Summer is the only time when I can gain some colour in my skin. I'm so pale, my friend calls me albino. THANKS FRIEND.

My surgery is on Tuesday. I'm so nervous, it's my first surgery. I'm getting ACL reconstruction surgery, which I was to get 3 years ago; better late than never. I'm being quite optimistic despite my pessimistic personality. The glass is always half empty as apposed to half full.

I need to get a job. Right after my surgery I am going to submit my resume and hopefully work on weekends during the school year. My year is going to be packed. With a full schedule, clubs and hopefully jazz band I will have no time to breathe. I'm being a drama queen, yes I am indeed exagerating. I've always said
"What's life without a challenge?" I stick by it. I never take the easy route, because in life there is no easy route.

My friend Bertie, (click on her name to be linked to her blog) said the absolute most funniest thing to me today. I'm not going to give all the details (because it is a conversation between her and I) but she told me "if everyone starts being asian i'm gonna go learn spanish" haha it was amazing I loved it. Yes Bertie I gave you a shout out! Haha :D

Let's just say, I'm new

Say goodbye to the old Dea, and say hello to the new one. Though the only thing different are my hair and glasses (I picked them up today!) I look like a different person and I have a different outlook on life. I've had an epiphany and I thank Life in a day for it. Today July 24th is the day to film a day in your life and submit it to the directors youtube channel. If your raw footage is chosen it will be used in the documentary movie July 24th, it will aire on youtube. I was contemplating whether or not to contribute to this. In the end I decided not to, because I didn't want to contribute in the movie. If my footage didn't make in the movie, it would have stayed on the channel, and well I didn't want that. There are other ways to let my voice be heard in the world.

My very first post was about how much I'd love to rant. Well guess who's rant is going to be published in a newspaper? Me haha! I can't disclose what I am ranting about, so it'll be a surprise!

My plan of the day was to fix my tan, and no luck there! I managed to finish 5 sudoku puzzles, yes I am that kind of person haha.

I'm going to edit my article now, until tomorrow!

Friday, July 23

Life is so boring, I yawn

The worst movie that I have ever seen is Assasination of a HighSchool President. I don't reccomend anybody watch it, unless you are really immature, and you're jokes are that of 2 year olds go ahead. Knock yourself out.

So tomorrow I am going to pick up my glasses! They came earlier than expected, yay for me! We're also going to the lake tomorrow. I'm going to try to fix my tan as it's very awkward right now. I was filming my diy and the camera died in the middle of filming! Ahhhhh the agony.

Enjoy this song. It's currently stuck in my head.

Coming soon

My blog is under construction. Though I am a beginner blogger, my blog has flourished since my very first post. I've added pages, and even though they are still under contruction my blog is advancing. I added a DIY page, I am currently making a DIY head piece to add to the page.

Just wanted to let you all know that I have some projects coming up, this isn't a lame blog that's plain. I work hard at it. I make an effort to blog everday, it pays off. Blogging is fun.

Well nothing more to add. Stay tuned. The future is bright for Wowzapalooza. Very bright.

WWW stands for world wide web.

Well what can I tell you about Calaway park? It's far away and TomTom was no help in finding it!
To all who don't know, TomTom is the family's GPS. Yes indeed, the GPS is called TomTom.

When we finally arrived at Calaway Park we parked in section "G". This may all seem irrelevant to you but I assure you it is relevant.

To save you all from a super long and detailed analysis (this is no essay) of my day I will sum it up with the most important things I learnt today about myself and things in general.

1. I learnt that rollarcoasters make me get emotional. VERY emotional. Calaway park has a mini rollarcoaster and the ride itself doesn't even last for 1 minute which is why you have two runs on it. Today was the first time in my entire life that I had ever gone on a rollarcoaster. Apparently it showed. I am extremely acrophobic, for those who don't know what that means. It's an extreme fear of heights. I promised my younger brother I would go on the rollarcoaster, so I wasn't going to back down. I also wanted to try and face this fear. I'd never been on a rollarcoaster before so I wanted to experience it for the first time. As the ride started my nerves began to control my body. As the ride started going up ready for the drop, I have absolutely no idea why but I began to cry. Yes, I'm 15 years old and I cried. My brain told my body I was going to die, it was so scary I hated it. I hated the drop, I hated sceaming, I hated how my head bobbled around like a bobble head and I especially hated how my younger brother laughed at me the WHOLE time. Talk about supportive. Well that experience was a great one. Though I am terribly afraid of heights, fear is a great thrill ride. I am in no means an adrenaline junkie, and I don't think I will tackle the massive rollarcoasters in the world. But if my family goes to Canada's Wonderland, I think I will tackle at least on rollarcoaster there. Oh I went on the rollarcoaster again later in the day, I was still very nervous but I did NOT cry. I lost my voice screaming. Again my brother was laughing at me. Ah family.

2. It's better to spend money on frozen lemonade than a Sno cone. Great advice from my mother. Today I tried something I have never tried before, SOFT FROZEN LEMONADE. Funny how I go from talking about rollarcoasters to food, I work this way. Well the frozen lemonade (FL)  was a tad bit sour and I thought that I wouldn't like it. But it is an excellent frozen treat. I don't know how much I'd like strawberry, and everybody loves lemonade on a cold day. A Sno Cone is a total rip off. It's ice full of flavoring. I don't trust the people handling the ice. Packaging in the Frozen Lemonade is much better. Mama always knew best. Listen to your moms!

3. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice haha I caught you're the fool now. The haunted house at Calaway Park sucks, so teenagers hide inside scaring the other kids. The last time I went to Calaway I went with 2 friends we hid and scared kids. This time when I was walking with my brother these 2 boys were trying REALLY hard to scare us. The one boy kept pushing me and screaming, like I didn't know you were there. The other boy was hiding in the exact spot that my friends and I hid last time. Before he even has a chance to jump out and "scare me" I pointed directly at him and said "I see you". He sighed and walked away. My brother burst out laughing. So there you go. The lesson here is, you can never fool the grandmaster. Yes, this is inspired by the original karate kid. LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie. Classics never die.

4. If you plan on getting wet and you're leaving right after. Make sure you have a change of clothes and hope that you parked closer! The last ride that my brother and I went on was bumper boats. It was a mans birthday and all his friends were getting him wet. My boat drove so slowly and I was caught in the middle of this massive water fight. I was soaked like my shorts were wet, my shirt was wet and my hair ALL were soaked. Not to mention my glasses, you know you're wet when, your lenses are wet. We were walking to the car and it was so uncomfortable, we had to walk all the way down to section "G". We had a change of clothes (yay for listening to my mom) but next time we go to Calaway Park, I suggest that we park closer! As my head was spinning and it was uncomfortable to walk in wet clothes.

All in all, I had a great time today. I went on numerous rides, GOT SOAKED in water, became extremely dizzy to the point of vomiting, cried on a rollarcoaster, told a kid I SEE YOU haha. Today was so fun. It was great to see my mom and my brother had a great time too. The only bad parts are that I got an extremely bad burn on my shoulders that will leave a bad tan, I also lost my voice, but I seem to be the only one complaining. My family is enjoying the peace and quiet.

Calaway Park is family fun - it certainly lives up to its name.

Calaway Park for everyone. Yes, that is from the commercial. =D

I blog everyday

At least I try.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened today. My friend who I had plans with tomorrow messages me telling me she had hurt her knee and is having a hard time walking. So the plans are cancelled. I had promised my younger brother that we would go do something fun before my surgery as then I won't be able to do much.

So tomorrow I am still going to be going to Calaway Park! My brother is oh so excited haha I feel like a great older sister. I plan on inviting my friend over before her big move to Dubai. My bestfriend lives in Holland, I haven't seen her in about 4 years, but we are still very close. Distance can't ruin a friendship, as long as you make an effort.

Well I watched TV today as I do everyday, I also played escape Haunted. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. It scared me a lot but it's the thrill that made the game fun!

Okay well this post is lacking. I go from lacking posts to posts that are detailed and long.
I bet tomorrow's post will be long and detailed.

Don't believe me. Wait and see.

Perfect frame? FOUND IT =D

After months of searching; I finally found the perfect frame for my face. Today I bought a new pair of glasses and I'm so excited because they look amazing ! :D I've accepted the fact that I won't be allowed to wear contacts until my graduating year, so I make do. This year I've realized how truely trendy glasses can be. You need to style your hair properly, choose the right frame for your face, and make an effort with how you look. I also bought 2 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of jean capri-ish style pants LOL. I'm horrible at explaining things.

Degrassi Boiling Point!
Was on today. Man Holly J. is back to her old ways. If there's one thing I've learned from her, is that to make it in the harsh world, one doesn't neccesarily have to be nice. The world doesn't wait for you, it's bustling and on a quick-pace. I am loving how there are going to be 4 episodes a week. Yay I don't have to wait so long to watch it.

An old friend showed up today. We didn't talk. We parted ways, it's better this way.

Well one of my bestfriends who is moving away to Dubai messaged me inviting me to go to Calaway Park. I'm so excited to go with her. It'll be the last time I see her and it's good to have some quality bonding time :)

Shop till you drop

My family and I went shopping today. The thing that bothers me the most is when I have to go out and I feel exhausted. I woke up to the sounds of workers building or fixing something on a house. It annoyed me so I just got up.

ANYWAYS.

So what did I buy?

A loose tank top-ish kind of shirt and 2 pairs of jeans. Yea I didn't buy much but I was on my feet all day so I think that the saying shop till you drop works in this case ha ha.

Very exciting news, later on this week I will start posting DIY tutorials as I have nothing better to do with my time except do it yourself stuff. Exciting...yay.

Haha, just kidding, a lot of hard work goes into the tutorials so I hope that you will watch them and like them.

I was cold on a hot day

Yes. Today my family and I went to the lake. My brother and I ran directly into the water and swam for a while. When we got out I was cold so I wrapped myself in a towel and sat for a while. I decided to lye down and have the sun dry me off. There was a slight breeze and it made me quite cold. I became dry but I was very cold. It took me till the time we left to warm up, I don't know why. I think people thought I was crazy because the day was warm and I was sitting outside wrapped around in a blanket. Oh well, my arms feel hot right now but I don't think I tanned much. I'm very pale so instead of tanning I burn. My skin would rather turn red than a nice golden tan. Urgh. Besides that nothing much happened.

I added a new page on my blog where you can play games. Escape room games, they are fun but they are tricky! I gave up on one. Some are TOO tricky. Finish the beginner then work your way up haha :D

I need to post another lookbook outfit soon. It's been almost what a week or so since my last one? I'm very behind...

Well until next time

Mission accomplished + Degrassi Takes Manhatten

After countless hours of cleaning, we (my mom, brother and I) finished cleaning our garage! Oh the joy. We had a lot of junk but it's nice to see the garage finally clean. My mother is quite thrilled as the mess is cleaned up.

Now I'm going to be review the Degrassi movie so if you do not want me to spoil it. DON'T READ ON.
I REPEAT, SPOILERS AHEAD.

To all who stop reading here. Watch Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video here and help Mother Monster beat Bieber.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

SPOILER ALERT.

Okay I have warned enough.

Here are my thoughts on the Degrassi Movie. Excuse me if I swear, there were moments that seriously pissed me off.

Movie starts out. Yay I'm so excited. Spinner and Jane get tattoos to show each others love. A key on the back of Spinners neck a locket on Jane's lower back. Wow, I don't care how in love you guys are that's a pretty stupid thing to do. I would never tattoo anybody's name on my body. Well I'm contemplating on tattooing something of Gaga's. My love for her will never die.

(sorry if I jump all over the place, I'm highlighting the KEY points, in my opinion)

Spinner is looking for a new person to hire because Holly J. is going away for 2 months, he hires Emma (his ex) who shows up spontaneously. He strictly tells her to NOT use the toaster thingy. Him and Jane leave to go to Declan's pool party.

Emma uses the toaster and she got distracted.

Jane and Holly J. go to change, Spinner tells Declan he'll go find Holly J. and ask her how he likes her meat done( ha ha that sounded wrong). Anyway, Jane and Holly J. are gossiping about how Spinner should never find out about how Jane cheated on him with Declan. WELL, Spinner finds out, he over hears them. When Jane walks out she gives Spinner a hug, he confronts her she gets emotional then Declan walks over with food. Spinner punches him in the face. Ouch. Spinner and Jane are over. BET THEY REGRET THOSE TATTOOS NOW.

So Holly J. tells Jane come to New York with me. And Declan agrees, he has enough room at his place as his mom is coming a few weeks later. Jane decides to come and flash forward you see scenes of them in New York. Oh how jealous I was, but I'm going to New York for two months, actually I can go whenever. Perks of having family there.

Back with Emma. Spinner arrives at The Dot and he sees the place in flames Emma apoligizes and says It's probably not that bad. The whole place explodes. Spinner obviously had a bad day.

Fiona, Declan's sister really shows her true colours. I now think she's a bitch. She got an internship at the exact same place Holly J. has hers. She did that on purpose, because she needs to interfere with Holly J. dating her brother. These two have a rivalry and it goes on for a long time. Holly J. locks Fiona in the storage room place and takes her spot in the interview. Holly J.'s "boss" is none other than MTV's The Aftershow's very own Jessi! Last years movie had Dan. Now Jessi, oh I loved it. She played the role of Kristen so well. I'm not fond of the name Kristen, every single Kristen I've come in contact with has been a total bitch to me. I know it's not good to stereotype but I stereotype that name because of my experiences. To all nice Kristens SORRY.

Fiona escapes from the locked room and calls Declan, he comes over and yells at Holly J. Fiona has evil plans.

Meanwhile, Emma, Manny, Jay and Spinner all go to Niagra falls. Emma and Spinner get drunk and end up getting married. WOW. They wake up the next morning and go to ask the lady who made it all happen for a refund. It was none other than MARY MURPHY, I love that woman, she is HILARIOUS. She says she cant help them. Blah blah. They think about a divorce but are happy that they got married. Then Emma finds a box of Jane's stuff in his room and calls a divorce lawyer. I'm just confused. How can you fall in love so quick. So weird....

Back in New York, Jane's in a band well she's the new singer. At Declan and Fiona's party they kiss. Fiona shows Holly J., Declan's exes. Holly J. goes and confronts Declan, he kisses her and Fiona comes between them. Holly J. then confronts Fiona infront of everyone. Fiona had a lot to drink she kisses her own brother. Then Holly J. storms out. Leaving Declan speechless.

Jane goes to a band rehearsal and sees a girl singing. The boy she had kissed had gotten back together with his girlfriend and now Jane was no longer in the band. Duh. She calls Spinner and he tells her he's marrying Emma. She's speechless.

The next day Holly J. is at her internship and is thinking of resigning, Kristen tells her, she won't resign unless she tells her too. Kristen starts her segment about how Fiona and Declan kissed, and Declan is on the phone. He only called in to talk to Holly J. as she won't return his phone calls. He then shows up behind Holly J. and asks her for another chance. She tells him this is your last chance and they get back together awe.

Later, Jane tells them about Spinner's new marriage. She then begs them to take them back to talk him out of it. They agree. They take Declan's dad's car. I think it was a Lambourghini. I thought they'd take a private Jet or a Helicopter...

Along the roadtrip when they stopped for food, Holly J. and Declan decide to stall. Jane figures this out a little later and tricks Declan into giving him the keys. She "steals" the car and drives straight to Spinner.

Ahh Meanwhile, Spinner proposes to Emma again infront of her parents and they agree to it. Spinner's mom is happy and proud of her son. Emma's wedding dress looks to cheap. Manny looks like she gained weight, I miss her long hair.

Jane makes it just before the wedding starts, everybody stares at her, she finds Spinner in the tent and talks to him. She gives him a kiss goodbye, Manny walks in and starts freaking out she begins to fight with Jane. Then she finds out it was just a goodbye.

Emma and Spinner get married. I liked Spinner, I've never really liked Emma. She was never all that innocent. I wonder if they're off the show now.

Jane is happy for Spinner and then Holly J. and Declan arrive on a boat. Jane tells them what happens, that she kissed him. Declan says to Holly J. I told you we should have taken the helicopter. Wow Declan way to figure it out now! She tells them it's goodbye and then Spinner and Emma catch the three. Holly J. yells we're leaving. Spinner tells Emma what happened, and that he's over Jane. It was a goodbye between them. Emma invites them all to stay for the party. YAY END OF THE MOVIE.

Okay so I left A LOT out. But maybe I'll just make a video on my review. I'm trying to post this before 12. Overall the movie was great. I love how when everybody sang it sounded great. Usually when people sing live, it doesn't sound like it's out of a studio. Of course that's the movie.
I'm excited for Degrassi the boiling point. I was also excited to see Liberty again! Okay, well I know my review was crap but that's okay. No one's paying me so it doesn't have to be amazing.

July 14th - best Stampede ever.

In my opinion, Calgary is known for only one thing, and that's the Stampede.

Above is what it claims to be. It is a great tourist attraction but if you live in Calgary you may get tired of it. Sure a lot of people look forward to it, me I dread it because it's usually same old, same old. Not this year, it was much better.

My mom and brother sat with me in the stands as we watched the free outdoor show. Now who watches America's Got Talent? Well I do! I remembered an act that was on the show last year and surprise! It was them, they were on stage!

That right there is ACRODUNK. They are an amazing act that does amazing tricks and flips while dunking a basket ball in mid-air. Later on in the day we saw their show again and were as blown away as the last time. Here is a video showing some footage of their amazing act.

When their act was finished a french duo from Quebec came to perform their act. They called themselves Circo Comedia, and they were spectacular. Though the comedy was geared towards kids I couldn't help but laugh so hard. Like ACODUNK, we saw them later in the day and I was able to film it. I also got a picture with the duo and I messed up on the pose. My brother got a picture with them too except he did better with the poses.

Here is a part of the act. The overall act was over 15 minutes long so I'm showing you guys my favorite part.

I have spent 1 hour and thirty minutes waiting for the video to upload. It won't because the file it way to big. I will try to upload it on YouTube and link it there when I am done.

My favorite part is when the guy pours water on his head and starts dancing like a maniac. One of my absolute favorite songs is maniac from the movie Flashdance. I thought that he would fit perfectly into the Movie.

A picture of the a near the end.

Here is a picture of me and Circo Comedia. Noticed how I fail at their theatric pose. My brother's picture turned out better than mine but doesn't want me to post any pictures of him on here, so I'm respecting his decision.

I took many photos with mascots. Here are the pictures.

I got a picture with almost ever single mascot except for

Energizer Bunny.

I also won my first prize at the Stampede! The game was a total rip off. Because it was 25 cents to play that may seem like a great deal but the game itself is hard to play. You have to push a ball and make sure it goes over a little hill and stays on that side. It's tricky because you can't push too hard or too soft.

That's what the game looks like. When we first entered the stampede we saw the exact same game that was 1$ and when we saw this we thought it was a deal because it is 25 cents. Don't be fooled this game is tricky, but I won!

Here he is ! He was prize number 1. So if I had played the game and won again I would trade him in for a bigger prize. You can trade till the 8th prize which is the biggest. When I won him I kept him and didn't play anymore, that game sure takes your quarters!

He is currently nameless so I need help naming him. If you'd like, leave a comment below giving me suggestions!

Here are some random pictures.

Overall I'd have to say that the Stampede this year was the best one for me yet. I didn't go on any of the rides but I went and saw the shows and the attractions. It was a really fun time. If you've never been to the Stampede I suggest that you go. It has a lot of tourist attractions. I think I'll be going to the Stampede every Summer unless m family and I go on vacation and leave Calgary.

One last reason you all should come to the Calgary Stampede.
It'll make you say.....

YEE-HAW

Wednesday, July 14

Todays summary posted tomorrow, why? Read on.

I spent the whole day at the stampede and I am exhausted. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm editing the video footage and I will post it tomorrow along with the pictures and stories to back it all up :D. I truly had an amazing time today. Although it's 6:14pm, I can barely keep my eyes open so I'm going to bed.

Chiao !

I feel like everything in the world has a label

I'm done posting secrets I made it through what 7 wow, I realized how stupid was I to even start. Time to start ranting about something that makes me quite angry.

LABELS
"Labels are for cans not people"

It's the summer of July 2010 and I've had an enormous epiphany. Everywhere you look, everything seems to have a label. You see a girl in shorts walking down the street, if her shorts are too short, she's labeled as a 'slut', if she's not skinny she is labeled as 'fat'. If she doesn't look like like the models in the magazines she's labeled as 'ugly'. Seriously who decided that it was right to label people? It'd not right, it's a horrible thing to do. People label everybody.

If a guy has a good fashion sense he's labeled 'gay', or if he's labeled as a 'jock' then obviously he's not smart. Who decided all of this? There are smart athletes out there! And has anybody out there heard of the word metro? It basically describes a guy who has great fashion sense. And just because you're gay doesn't mean you are amazing at fashion, that's just a biased stereotype. Labels aren't who we are, they don't express a persons personality or represent anything about them!

I hate how being smart is a bad thing, yet being a 'druggie' is cool. When did the world come to this. The smart are labeled as 'geeks' and 'nerds'. Then we have the 'popular' kids. They're all labels and they mean absolutely NOTHING.

I am passionate about the cruel labels being placed on people because though they may just be labels they do hurt. Not everybody has thick skin, and even those who don't the hurt will still pierce through. I've been labeled many things.
Here is a list of a few of them:
Geek/Nerd, Band Geek, Fat, Slut, Ugly, Poor, TLC kid (this is because I was attending a uniform program)

Am I a 'Geek/Nerd' because I study hard to get good grades? No. I study hard because I want to have a great future and I plan on going to University. I value my education.

Am I a 'Band geek' because I am enrolled in band? No. Since when is doing something you love pathetic. I love music, and I enjoying being able to express myself through my instrument. Music is form of art, and I love band because everybody in the class shares their love for the art.

Am I fat because I'm not a size zero? No. The media is obsessed with being thin, but thin isn't HEALTHY. I enjoy eating (I'm from Europe, so even if I didn't want to eat my parents wouldn't allow it) and I may not be very skinny but I am very healthy. I will dedicate a post to being healthy because I don't think people realize how important their health is. Models are airbrushed, and being too skinny is very unhealthy.

I have absolutely no idea why anybody would want to label me as a 'Slut'. The funny story is, my friend came running to me and told me that someone had written in the bathroom stall saying "Dea is a Slut". I nearly pissed myself laughing. I think the world slut is tossed around and people do not know the true definition of the word. I was 13 when I was called a slut and if you had seen me back then you would have called me quite the opposite. I rarely talked to boys much, I was in a uniform (but I didn't violate it in anyway) I was a Plain Mary. Haha look that's a label too.

Am I Ugly because I don't look like the models in the magazines? Truth is, they don't even look like that. I was recently flipping through channels and I came to Oprah's show. She said something quite wise and remember able. She told a woman who was struggling with looking perfect that "It took a village of people to make me look like this." That is so true! Nobody in the industry looks like who they are without the backup help from all the people working for them. And I don't wear a lot of makeup, though my face is not flawless it is 'fresh'. The girls who wear too much makeup are called 'Cake face'. See? More labels.

Am I poor? No. I am not poor whatsoever. I don't have as many luxuries as everybody else does, I don't blow off my money for current trends to fit in with the cool kids. I value what I have and if you see me as poor that's you're problem. My house is amazing, it's  three storey house and we have renovated it. Tell me, do poor people do that? God. Money arguments are so annoying.

Am I a TLC kid? NOT ANYMORE HAHA. I've left that horrible program. I no longer have to wear that horrible uniform. I'm contemplating on whether I should post a picture of the uniform, I'm afraid it will scar your eyes. Hehehe, I'll post it one day. But all in all, I really was a TLC kid, I know it's a label but really it fit. I was a kid in TLC. But I wasn't a Uni, that was one of the stupidest things people have ever called us. No, it's not short for unicorns. Uni was a word used for us "Uniform wearers".

This was a very long post, I feel I could've written an essay on this haha. I hope you all see how bad labels are. I mean there are good labels out there but I'm angry about the bad and mean ones. Thank you for taking the time to read through this whole post.. or even to the end. If you like my posts please follow. I enjoy ranting about important topics. Oh and don't forget the golden rule.

#7- I don't lose in a battle of wits

It's Monday, and even though it's summer it's still my least favorite day of the week. Today I learnt that I am amazing when it comes to a battle of the wits. Confrontations don't scare me anymore, you can win them by wit. I've been in numerous amounts of "fights" I don't see why people call them fights when usually nobody ends up hitting each other. Both sides just yell at random words that come to mind and they think they are winning; of course they are making themselves look like total and complete idiots. I don't know about you guys but when I watch people "fight" I feel like immediately bursting out into laughter. If you're going to make a scene, at least know what you're talking about. A fight is actually a battle of wits, and not everybody has wits, which is why I have created a list on how you can succeed in a battle of wits.

First of all, what IS the definition of wit? I googled "define wit" and it came up with this.
"a message whose ingenuity or verbal skill or incongruity has the power to evoke laughter"
Think about it, when people argue it tends to be quite funny as both sides are making complete fools of themselves.

How To Succeed in a Battle of Wits

Remember that awkward phase we all go through in middle school? When Yo Mama joke battles were all the rage? Well my first tip is to seriously study those battles. They may seem like really cheesy jokes, but they are witty puns that rack up points to win the battle.

This next tip is important to remember for everyday life. I cannot stress enough how important it is to be
"CONFIDENT"

Google defines "confidence" as "First of all, what IS the definition of wit? I googled "define wit" and it came up with this.
"assurance: freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities"

Be confident, don't slouch your shoulder. Pull your shoulders back, push your chest out, lift your head up high and look your opponent straight into the eyes. Don't show any signs of weakness, don't stutter and don't look away. Be confident with your comebacks to whatever they say to you.

What do you do when you have completely run out of wits to say to them? I don't remember who told me, but it is a wise saying.
"Fake it, till you make it"
That saying works perfectly in this situation. When you see lawyers on TV arguing (the media IS A BIG lie, that's not what happens in real life) when they are in a tight spot they fake it till they make it.

My last piece of advice may seem quite silly but practice, practice, practice. If you have insider info from a friend and they know when the confrentation is going to happen and what it's going to be about prepare yourself. Study up, you don't want to look like a fool in the fight.

I hope these help you in some way, these are the guidlines I follow. I study, I practice and I make sure I'm confident. I don't lose in battles of wit because I am prepared. I'm not the one looking like a fool in the "fight" they are. And that's how it should be.

#6- I am good at decorating and organizing

After 3 weeks of procrastination, I FINALLY managed to clean my room. What started 3 weeks ago was finished in about 5 hours, but my parents were thrilled.
Why did it take me 5 hours? When I clean, I have to organize EVERYTHING, nothing can be out of place and well I slacked off a bit, I mean I got really distracted when my bestfriend kept texting me and I had to have a few random dancing moments to the music of Lady GaGa :D
My dad said that if I managed to keep my room clean for the rest of the summer I would get a gift, I wonder what it could be?
The Stampede runs this week, it's the only fun thing to do here. My mom wants us to go, but blaah I'm not a big fan of cowboy boots and western clothing. We are going for one day but still! Toronto has more fun events than this place will ever :(

I need to get my learners soon and I also need a haircut. Ahh I have alot of things to do before the summer ends. I find that my summers are usually not relaxing unless my family leaves to go somewhere.

Here are my questions for you all.
What was the longest amount of time you took to clean your room?
Are you like me in which summers are only relaxing when your family leaves to go somewhere else?
I'd love to hear from you guys!

#5- I don't have a middle name

In 24 hours I had to exchange my phone. Not once, but twice. I've had 3 phones in the last 24 hours. WOW ! As many of you know, I got an LG Xenon, it's a touch screen and in the first two cases when I had to exchange my phone the screen broke. I need to be extra careful with the screen and not press it down to hard, but I am so horrible with touch screens, I am really not used to them.

I am a bookworm. I love to read, because when your reality isn't what you want it to be, it's nice to escape for a while. My posts are really lacking these days, but I did go shopping so I hope to post another lookbook outfit sooner or later.

OH and I plan on uploading to my youtube channel soon, I've started filming. I got a brand new editing program but I'm such a loser I don't know how to operate all of its amazing features! Anybody out there who knows how to use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 want to help me? Hahaha.... or I'll have to start helping myself.

It'll get interesting, I promise :D

#4- I prefer coke over pepsi

What a party today was. My family and I stood in line for hour food and when it was my turn the man gave me a giant piece of meat. I had the biggest piece of meat in my family and I couldn't even finish it, I was so full!

Nothing really happened today except that....
I GOT A CELLPHONE.

It's my first one. ever. So I am just a TAD excited.

It's an LG Xenon, and it's amazing ! :D

What a short blog post... sorry I'm really tired.
It's 8:42 but whatever I can sleep if I want.

Keep you posted,

#2 - I've never liked eggplant

My weeks of hard work have paid off; my room project is nearly finished. Today was the day I move my table into my bedroom. Originally wood, spray-painted blue and then sanded to be painted white, was the newest member of furniture to join my room. I knew the table was small but when it finally made it's way in my room I had no idea how small it was. Oh well, the paint looks excellent.

My brother and I cleaned the basement today. Now for everybody out there who dreads cleaning, do what my brother and I do. Each of us has a vacuum, therefore it is quite an efficient way to speed up the work time. My brother found a massive spider; oh. my. god. it was SO huge, we weren't going to touch it, it was so disgusting so we called for my mother and even she was a bit startled by how big the "little critter" was.

Urgh I hate the word critter, it reminds me of things that are smaller than my foot, have many legs and are just so disgusting to look at. BLEH, I know spiders eat bugs but can they please stay away from me; probably not. Well they are better than cochroaches, thank god I have never encountered one.

Short and simple. I hope to post some pictures of my finished room soon. I also started a youtube channel where I do DIY. Though I have no videos yet I have a lot planned.

I'll keep you posted...whoever "you" may be.

I made a deal with my brother

I'm sure my two followers are very saddened, I've been M.I.A for a week and a couple of days, they probably were yanking out their hair waiting for my posts.

Ha. I wish.

One of my followers is my brother, who I bribed to follow me, because I was ranting to a blank internet, no views, nothing. He followed me, and that's only because I made him. I'm not desperate, I'm lonely. There's a BIG difference. The other follower is my friend, she likes my blog, but I think she also felt bad for me.

Stomp. That was me putting my foot down in a dramatic manner. Yes, I've had it, no more feeling sorry for myself, and I no longer want people feeling sorry for me. Time to take action.

From now on, each blog post will be a secret. I will number them, who knows, maybe in the future I will have 3000 secrets.. hahaha oh if only I was so motivated.

I've spent countless hours on this blog, editing it, changing the template, everything I possibly could to find it appealing. When I finished it, and I was so happy with the outcome, I asked one of my best friends, Bertie (doesn't she have such a unique name?) whom I tend to frequently call Bert. Does anybody remember Bert and Ernie? I loved Sesame Street growing up, and Bert was always my favorite from the two.

Anyways, sorry I got a bit side-tracked. So I asked for her opinion, and she gave it; I'm not going to lie, it stung a bit, I'm the kind of person who gets hurt when they don't hear what they want.
Bertie was honest with me, and even though all the hours that went into my template making went to waste, I saw where she was coming from and I respected how truthful she was.
"The truth isn't always going to come on your shoulder like a bluebird" - A quotation along those lines by Kelly Cutrone.

Thank you Bertie for bookmarking my blog, and giving me great advice...which I forgot but it was good at the time hahah.

Oh and Bertie and I entered a contest to win tickets to the folk music festival in our city, I hope that one of us wins and we go together. We will dress up like hippies, because of course we want to make our beloved Andrew proud.

Thank you to all who took the time to read secret #1. Stay tuned for secret #2.
